In Memory of Helen Goodpaster Rogers

On November 13th Helen Goodpaster Rogers peacefully passed away in her sleep. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Helen joined Speaking From The Heart Toastmasters Club in April of 2017 and has been a member of Toastmasters since  April 1, 1998 she was a former member of, Professionally Speaking. She is remembered how she always “stuck to her guns”. Helen was a dedicated, appreciated and honored Toastmaster.  As a long term member, she always supported her club and Helen supported the Academic Decathlon. Van Gordon DTM, President of Club 5816 “Speaking From The Heart” wrote: “I first met Helen at a speech contest held in the Sacramento County building on H street, years ago.  I became involved with Helen while she was a member of TicToc (Toastmasters in the Community, Toastmasters on Cable) club. Later she joined Speaking From the Heart, which she is still considered a active member.  Due to her health, she did not attend the meetings, but fully supported the clubs. She was also a very active supporter of many non profit organizations in the Sacramento area. Helen fully participated in the Jazz Festival each Memorial Day Weekend in Old Sacramento and the California State Fair. Also as you mentioned she was a staunch supporter and worker in the Academic Decathlon. Most people who knew Helen will quickly remember that she always stood her ground, and she wasted no time or used any “political correctness” in telling you so.  However, they also may not know that she had the biggest heart ever, and loved to work with kids and offer her assistance to any even if they did not ask. Helen will be missed.  -Van Gordon DTM“ Helen touched many Toastmasters over the years and will be remembered by all.  Our prayers go out to his family and friends Nancy Potts District 39 Director and Entire District 39 membership
